WHAT TO TAKE ON A PICNIC?
Fresh air warms the appetite, and the most ordinary foods become several times tastier. With the first warmth, townspeople go to parks outside the city, grabbing cameras, blankets, thermoses and lunch boxes with sandwiches. However, any picnic requires preliminary preparation. In order to have a successful vacation, you need to familiarize yourself with the list of what to take to nature.
What things can’t be done without?
So, how to avoid excess cargo and take everything you need? You will need:
- Insect spray. With the arrival of spring, mosquitoes, ticks and other insects wake up, capable of turning a peaceful picnic into torture. They are especially active in places of active recreation – forests and near water bodies. Be sure to spray your skin and clothes beforehand.
- A standard first-aid kit. It is enough to put a bandage, plasters, peroxide, green tea or iodine, remedies for allergies, stomach disorders and headaches in it. A cold pack for shocks can also come in handy. Just in case, add antiseptic and cotton wool.
- Useful little things. Among them are wet and dry wipes, paper towels, garbage bags, toilet paper, an umbrella, spare socks and warm clothes if it is expected to get cold.
- Things for organizing a picnic. It can be an ordinary blanket under which a oilcloth is laid or special folding furniture.
- In the heat, water consumption increases, so throw a spare bottle of water in your backpack.
- Cooler bags or thermo-packs that will keep the temperature of your food. In summer, they protect products from rapid spoilage. You can also transport ice for cocktails and ice cream in them.
- Board games. To occupy your leisure time after a hearty lunch, grab a board game or two (like Munchkin, Dixit, Alias, Monopoly, or Evolution).
- Equipment for active recreation: rackets and shuttlecock for badminton, boomerang or disc, ball.
What is the best thing to cook for a picnic?
A picnic is a delicate affair, and it is better to always coordinate the selection of the menu with all the participants of the meal. It’s another matter when you are absolutely sure that your cooking will be tasty and everyone will like it. Here are some tips on what to prepare for a picnic:
- Canapes. Combinations of ingredients are limited only by your imagination. For example, the combination of croutons, cheese (solid or mozzarella / feta), bacon with any vegetables will be a win-win option. Pack them in a box in advance before transporting.
- Sandwiches It is better to make steamed ones from special toaster bread. The filling is up to your taste and discretion, but the age-tested combination of cheese + lettuce + bacon always turns out delicious.
- Grilled steaks. Marinate in soy sauce and red pepper, you will get sweet and juicy meat.
